Celebating Asian Style...

For Kalie's 9th birthday, we had a few close school friends over for an Asian themed party. We ate Asian food of course, had chopstick games and dressed in Asian attire. The highlight was getting to write in calligraphy. We have learned that this was Laura's family's business for over 100 years in Japan- the art of writing in calligraphy. She has been doing it since she was little so I asked if she would do this part of the party. She was fabulous with the girls! She let Kalie use her special equipment and showed them the proper ways to hold the brushes, etc. The girls loved it! Laura is "breaking" the brush.
