In the hottub- Khloe came with us for the competitions but then went back home with Drew on Sunday night. We enjoyed having her!
We just got home from a week of competitions and workshops. We are tired (especially our dancers) and so glad to be home but we had a great time. God is so good. Let me try to sum up the week. We arrived Friday evening and got settled in. Kalie began to get a little nervous about the next day- what if I forget, etc. Of course, I was nervous for her! Saturday morning, we got to the conference center (and getting there is a whole other story) and Kalie performed at 8:30 am. She did well! She remembered it all and said she had fun. The rest of the dancers did great too. The awards were given and the judges were grading tough! Kalie received a gold medal and then FIRST PLACE SOLO in her division! YEA!! Go KALIE!! On Sunday she performed her group dances. 3 of the dances received Gold medals and 2 of them received Platinum! They also received 3rd place junior group and 1st place junior group as well as 3rd place large group overall. On Monday, they had a Platinum competition. Any dance that had received platinum at the regional or national level could enter. She wanted to do her solo one more time so because she had received platinum at regional a few months ago, she was allowed to enter. She ended like a star. I think it was one of her best performances. They also performed the two platinum group numbers and they did so well. One of our dancers got hurt- she fell on her head while performing but got a clean bill of health at the ER. We are so thankful. Then yesterday and today they were in workshops most of the day. Last night we all celebrated at Wasabi's and had a blast. The girls got to play in a huge fountain this week, swim, eat at the Melting Pot and even a little shopping.
I am so thankful that Kalie got to experience the rewards of courage as well as the pain. That gold medal for her solo means nothing compared to what she gained in her head and heart. Thank you all for your prayers and notes of encouragement. I told her about each one and they truly blessed her. She was very touched that people would care so much about her. Thank you again.
